Welcome to the FHM

An insight into the university, its development and its role in the educational landscape.

More study. More research. More future.

With 5,834 students, 85 professors and over 280 experts from the private sector, the University of Applied Sciences for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (FHM) is one of Germany’s leading private universities and has a clear focus on small and medium-sized enterprises.

Since our foundation in Bielefeld in 2000, our history has been shaped by innovation, quality, academic rigour, knowledge transfer and a constant drive for further development – this applies both to our study programmes and teaching, as well as to our applied research and development. As a non-profit university, we are committed to sustainable growth.

We are state-recognised and have been voted Germany’s best business school on several occasions. Our range of courses covers the fields of psychology, education & social sciences, business, media & communication, technology, and sport & health – across our nine campuses throughout Germany as well as via the FHM Online University, which allows you to study from anywhere.

What we stand for

Quality teaching and research

The FHM stands for the highest standards in academic teaching in both face-to-face and online studies. Since the beginning, we have qualified students holistically according to our well-founded competence model and offer personal and interactive learning groups, well thought-out forms of study and suitable learning environments and facilities. We bring together students from Germany and all over the world with the same mindset in interactive learning groups - online and on campus, in Bachelor's, Master's, doctoral and continuing education programs.

We develop degree programs that are tailored to the changing needs of society and that enable our graduates to contribute to a sustainable society. Through academic teaching with a high degree of practical relevance and the application of sound scientific knowledge and methods, we prepare our students for outstanding professional and entrepreneurial activities.
