Fostering Virtual Reality applications within Adult Learning to improve low skills and qualifications
ViRAL Skills
The digitalization trend has affected all levels of public and private life, including education and training. However, adult education seems to be lagging behind the state of the art in the use of digitalization for its own purposes.
Goals and Contents
The ViRAL Skills project aims not only to bring the adult education sector on a par with more advanced education sectors, but to go a step further and integrate Virtual Reality (VR) capabilities into adult education, especially in the use of these technological advantages for low-skilled learners.
Therefore, it is crucial that adult educators and education managers gain awareness, knowledge and new skills required to use VR in their daily work.
Project results
- ViRAL-Skills-Survey. It provides an overview of the available and emerging VR technologies (hardware and software) and their analysis for the adult education process as well as the skills required for successful application.
- ViRAL-Skills-Compendium + E-Thek. Development of a web-based compendium of available hardware and software, their learning potentials, advantages and disadvantages in the sense of a learning material library for adult educators with a special focus on the training of low-skilled learners.
- ViRAL skills training programs. Development of a training program for adult educators (working with low-skilled learners) to raise awareness and acquire the necessary knowledge and skills on a technological, content-related, methodological-didactic and personal level.
