Key competences for an European model of Industry 4.0

i4EU

The “Industry 4.0” paradigm has created new opportunities and new challenges for companies worldwide. In order to increase their competitiveness and efficiency, companies must face up to the digital transformation of production and logistics chains (smart manufacturing) and products (smart interconnected objects). The impact of the fourth industrial revolution on the players involved and potential economic growth is enormous. One of the major challenges in this context is the large knowledge gaps in the area of digital skills that still exist in many European countries. And it is precisely this key competence that is crucial for technological change and development in Europe.

Objectives and contents

The international project team has set itself the goal of raising awareness of new technologies that support the digital transformation at European level and qualifying skilled workers for the European single market. The main focus was on teaching digital skills, the so-called key skills for Industry 4.0, with which skilled workers in European companies must be equipped in order to actively shape and drive forward the digital transformation processes.

Project results

The key results of the I4EU project are:

  • Handbook with practical examples and recommendations for the introduction and implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions;
  • Online tool to “measure the maturity” of digital 4.0 skills in European companies;
  • ECVET-compliant vocational training qualifications related to Industry 4.0
  • virtual workshops for “hands-on” experience with Industry 4.0 technologies;
  • courses for the training and qualification of skilled workers.

Situation report on economic protection NRW

Increasing automation and even autonomization in companies is making companies increasingly dependent on technology and therefore also offers potential attackers new opportunities. The risk of becoming a victim of white-collar crime is also increasing for SMEs.
