Field of research

Future technologies

Virtual reality, mixed reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) are finding their way into business, society, science, and education. They are revolutionizing many areas, which will have a huge impact on companies, industry, and higher education in the foreseeable future. In order to keep German and European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) competitive, university graduates must already be able to use these technologies as a matter of course. Together with European partners – universities and companies – the FHM is working on projects to introduce VR applications into business and business-related degree programs. The university's own VR.LAB on the Bielefeld campus and the FHM's AI Future Workshop offer all students excellent opportunities to try their hand at these forward-looking fields.
