Development of innovative curricula and modules in the field of the circular economy and sustainable development

CirculEC

The ERASMUS+-funded CirculEC project aims to strengthen partner universities in Central Asia by integrating topics of the circular economy and sustainable development. The focus is on updating educational programs and promoting skills that better prepare learners for labor market demands. It also seeks to enable partner countries to respond better to environmental challenges.

Objectives and contents

The project focuses on revising the curricula and designing modules that take up the topic of the circular economy and integrate it accordingly at the partner universities. The aim is to tailor the educational programs in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to the needs of each country. In addition, a culture of sustainability and innovation is to be promoted within these institutions, which should help to educate a new generation of professionals who are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills and can successfully operate in a changing global economy.

The CirculEC project will have a sustainable impact at various levels: In the field of education, knowledge and expertise in the circular economy will be expanded as innovative teaching programs are designed and implemented at regional, national and international level. New teaching methods and modules will be introduced and modern teaching approaches integrated.

At the institutional level, the project will not only modernize curricula, but also intensify cooperation with employers, which will result in a greater practical orientation of educational programs. The increased involvement of local authorities and other stakeholders will also increase the visibility and impact of the project.

At the individual level, the project will train partners from Central Asia in the areas of the circular economy and innovative teaching methods. Enterprises will upscale or adapt their business activities to become more environmentally aware and sustainable by integrating and adopting circular practices and principles. Students will acquire practical and up-to-date knowledge that prepares them for entrepreneurial activities in the circular economy.

Overall, the CirculEC project will improve Central Asia's competitiveness and sustainable development by modernizing higher education and promoting the circular economy.
