Engaging Critical Thinking for Sustainable Living
ECOGAGE
Sustainability is everywhere – yet many everyday decisions are complex, contradictory or based on misleading information. Consumers often face the challenge of identifying, evaluating and actually implementing sustainable options. This is precisely where the ECOGAGE project comes in.
Project objectives
The “ECOGAGE – Engaging Critical Thinking for Sustainable Living” project develops practical, hands-on learning resources for adult education that help people to better understand information on sustainability and make informed decisions.
The project focuses on three key outcomes:
Firstly, a series of visually presented fact sheets is being produced, which address common myths about sustainability and misleading everyday assumptions. These materials follow a clear structure – moving from a specific everyday situation, through a common assumption, to an evidence-based assessment – and provide concrete guidance for decision-making.
Building on this, the project is developing a series of interactive animated videos that guide users through decision-making scenarios. Different courses of action directly illustrate their environmental, social and economic consequences, thereby fostering a better understanding of the interconnections.
All results are made available as open educational resources (OER), ensuring that they remain freely accessible and widely usable in the long term.
The ECOGAGE approach combines scientifically sound content with interactive and engaging learning formats. The aim is not only to impart knowledge, but also to encourage concrete behavioural changes in everyday life.
