SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENCE INDICATORS FOR MONGOLIAN UNIVERSITIES (Erasmus+ CBHE Strand 3)

GreenFuture

The European Erasmus+ project GREENFUTURE aims to strengthen sustainability and resilience indicators at Mongolian higher education institutions. Its core objective is to establish Sustainability Offices at Mongolian universities, which are intended to contribute systematically to environmental, social and digital transformations.

By integrating into the UI GreenMetric Ranking and aligning with global standards such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GREENFUTURE aims to provide a decisive impetus for sustainable university development. Furthermore, the project contributes to the implementation of Mongolia Vision 2050 and supports the European Green Deal.

Background

Mongolian universities face the challenge of aligning their institutional structures more closely with sustainability and resilience requirements. GREENFUTURE supports them through knowledge transfer, the adoption of European best-practice models, and digital and organisational innovation processes, enabling them to play an active role in shaping the global ecological and digital transition.

Project goals

The project has the following specific objectives:

Establishing sustainability offices in Mongolian universities to embed sustainable university development on a long-term basis.
Integrating Mongolian universities into the global UI GreenMetric Ranking to increase transparency and international comparability.
Strengthening institutional sustainability practices in relation to the environment, digitalisation and management structures.
Alignment with national and international strategies, in particular the SDGs, Mongolia’s Vision 2050 and the European Green Deal.

Outputs and measures

Based on the project information, GREENFUTURE includes the following outcomes, amongst others:

Development of sustainability and resilience indicators for Mongolian universities.
Establishment and training for new sustainability offices.
Measures to digitise sustainability processes.
Systematic preparation of universities for the UI GreenMetric Ranking.
Promotion of international networking and cooperation in the field of sustainable university development.
