Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurial thinking and action have been part of Fachhochschule des Mittelstands' (FHM) identity since its foundation. In addition to the practical teaching of start-up and innovation skills in the course of study, the topic is also a central focus of research and development. 

In the field of entrepreneurship research, new approaches are being developed to strengthen innovation, sustainability, and resilience in small and medium-sized enterprises. The projects range from promoting entrepreneurial skills to shaping digital and green transformations to measuring and reducing bureaucratic costs. The FHM works with regional, national, and international partners to develop practical solutions for current economic and social challenges.

BIX

Since 2016, the Bureaucracy Index for Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (BIX) has measured the time spent by office-based physicians and psychotherapists on administrative work each year in order to transparently visualize and reduce the administrative burden.

Despite growing demand in the digital economy and numerous funding initiatives, women continue to be underrepresented in this field, as evidenced by the low number of technology-oriented start-ups.
